James L. Fish

James L. Fish, age 93, of 1501 Highland Lane, Quincy, died on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. He was born on September 5, 1921 in Elvaston, IL, a son of A.J. & Vena (Seaver) Fish. He married Virgilia “Jill” Musgrove on October 15, 1948 in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Fish was a self-employed contractor with Fish Brothers Construction. He was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed boating and birdhunting. In previous years Mr. Fish raced micro-midgets in Camp Point, IL.

He was a member and officer of many clubs and organizations over the years. These included the Elks Lodge, Cedar Crest Country Club, the Quincy Boat Club and Quincy Yacht Club, the Citizen Police Academy of Quincy, IL, The Quincy Gun Club and United Commercial Travelers.

In his later years, Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Jill, he is survived by one son, Joseph Fish and his wife Karen of Taylor, MO; a daughter Karen Bockewitz and her husband Paul of Quincy; five grandchildren, Adam Fish, Tim Greifer, Matt Greifer, Paul Bockewitz &Julie Huseman; nine great grandchildren; and one brother John (Fran) Fish of Bella Vista, AK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Per the specific request of Mr. Fish, cremation rites have been accorded and no services are scheduled. A family memorial dinner will be held at a later date. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. www.dukerandhaugh.com
