James “Jimbo” Mathes

James “Jimbo” Mathes, age 77, of Quincy, died on Thursday, July 20, 2017 in his home. Jimbo was born on February 3, 1940 in Kirksville, MO a son to Carl and Zelma (Modrell) Mathes. He married Bonnie Barnes in Pittsfield, IL on March 23, 1974. She survives.

Jimbo worked at Knapheide and retired after thirty-one years, but never really left.
He loved collecting trains, showing his truck at car shows, going to Scotties Raceway. He especially loved his dog, Roxie. Jimbo also enjoyed meeting his buddies at Hardees every day.

He is survived by his wife and one son: Jason (Sandy) Mathes of Macon, MO: one daughter, Marjorie (Raymond) Terwelp of Quincy: one daughter-in-law, Lavon Mathes of Maywood, MO. Two granddaughters: Emily Walbert of Quincy and Alex Mathes of Macon, MO. Three grandsons: Jimmy (Holly) Mathes of Maywood, MO, Travis “Bubba” (Amanda) Mathes of Lewistown, MO and Zach (Kaylynn) Mathes of LaGrange, MO. Six great-grandchildren.

Jimbo was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Travis, two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society. www.dukerandhaugh.com
