James “Jim” D. Brink
James “Jim” D. Brink, age 53, of 444 E. 1900th Street, Plainville, IL, died on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 2:03 p.m. in Rushville, IL. He was born on January 12, 1957 in Quincy, IL, a son of Ralph & Fern (Wilson) Brink. He married Laurie Powers on January 21, 1978 in St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty.
Jim was a 1975 graduate of Liberty High School, and after working in both home construction and farming, Jim went to work for his brother (Ron), at R.L. Brink Corporation, where he served as Asphalt Foreman. In his 25 years with the company, the last eight have been spent working along side his son.
He enjoyed horses, hunting, and the general pleasures afforded by the outdoors. Jim could also be found spending time with his close friends at the ‘Cellar Bar’. He treasured the time spent with his family, which most recently included his two newly arrived grandsons.
Among Jim’s survivors are his wife Laurie, along with their children; Dana Kinsella, and her husband Mike of Long Beach, CA, and Monte James Brink, and his wife Kristen of Liberty, and his two grandsons; Nico Kinsella of Long Beach, CA, and Carter James Brink of Liberty.
Jim is also survived by his five brothers; Ronald Brink (Patty Childress) of Quincy, Robert (Kim Barry) Brink of Liberty, Michael Brink (Jeanne) of Springfield, John Brink, & William Brink (Tammy) of Camp Point; and his five sisters; Georgeann Tournear (Loren) of Liberty, Linda Sheurman (Don) of Liberty, Jeanne Maas (Elmer) of Quincy, Kathy Buxman (Rick) of Quincy, & Diana Kessler(Dennis) of Liberty.
Surviving in-laws include Gilbert & LaVerne Powers of Plainville.
Additional survivors are brothers-in-law Ron Powers (Carol) of Chicago, & Chuck Powers of St. Louis, MO; and sisters-in-law Judy Moss of Plainville, & Bobbi Powers-Hey (John) of Orlando, FL. Included are many nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a sister (Gisele), and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, and a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty, IL. Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy.
