James F. Wolf

James Frank Wolf, age 92, of the Illinois Veteran’s Home, formerly of 1729 Spruce Street where he made his home for the past 8 years, died on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in the Home. James was born December 14, 1919 in Quincy, a son of Albert and Katherine (Dietrich) Wolf.

James served in the Air Force during World War II achieving the designation of Staff Sergeant. He served in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland and was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal and European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal.

He spent his life farming at 4919 Highway 96 South. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Jim enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He was a member of the American Legion Post #37.

Survivors include a brother Herbert Wolf and his wife Pat of Quincy; and sister-in-laws, Carlene Wolf and Margaret Wolf both of Quincy. Numerous nieces & nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, Paul and Daniel Wolf and a sister, Rosella Wolf.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will take place at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning at St. Anthony’s Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
