James “Ed” Griffin age 66, of Ursa, IL died on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Blessing Hospital. Ed was born April 11, 1955 in Washington, D.C. a son of Alfred “Al” & Patsy “Pat” (Frame) Griffin. He married Kathy (Nauber) Griffin on May 18, 1973, and together they had their two children, Eddie and Jamie.

Ed worked as a Custodian at Ellington School, and from there went to work at Tri-State Furniture for 20-plus years until his retirement. He was a 1973 graduate of Quincy High School. Ed was of the Catholic faith and was baptized at The Crossing in 2016.

Ed had volunteered for the Special Olympics. He played and coached softball for many years, coaching local teams including Midwest Merchants, Mr. Bills, Rick’s Pet Shop and Sisbro. He was a collector of baseball cards, an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and a fan of watching the Three Stooges, Westerns and going to the movies.

Survivors include his son, James “Eddie” Griffin, Jr., and his wife Chris; his daughter, Jamie Griffin (Robert Anderson) all of Quincy.
Six grandchildren: Kala (Charlie) Breder; Stevie Griffin; Brittany (Patrick) Vogt; Hunter Griffin; Katie Taylor; and Aislynn Griffin.
Three great grandchildren, Chaisley, Chairley and Channing Breder. Two brothers, Dave Griffin of Quincy and Terry (Maggie) Griffin of Georgia, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Katherine in infancy, and a brother Steve Griffin and sister Vicky Allen.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Tony Metz. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. Memorials are suggested to Muddy River Riders Blessing of the Bikes.
