James E. Winking, Sr.
James E. Winking, Sr., age 82, of 612 Cedar, died on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 10:50 PM in the Good Samaritan Home. He was born on April 14, 1934 in New London, MO the son of Fred & Frances (Deters) Winking. He married Gertrude P. Slater on October 29, 1955 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2002.
Mr. Winking worked for Harris Corp. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the Mississippi Valley Hunting and Fishing Association. James loved to go out to his farm with his dogs. His beloved dog, ‘Pepper’, just died a few days ago. He loved to spend time with his family, which meant everything to him.

TWENTY-ONE GRANDCHILDREN: Neil Winking and his wife Kristen; Brenda Winking; Kyle Winking and his wife Elizabeth; Tina Edwards; Christopher Fletcher; Nicole Fletcher; Beth Ann Baker; Matthew Baker and his wife Beth; Joscelin Brooks; Wesley Winking; Jared Winking; Connor Winking; Mackenzie Winking; Ethan Wellman and his wife Brittany; Madison Wellman; Todd Logan Jr. and his wife Julie; Brooklynn Logan and her fiancé James Aschemann; Collin Logan; Caleb Winking and his wife Ashlea; Kaitlyn Winking and Taylor Winking.
14 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN:
3 SISTERS: Alice Dempsey; Evelyn Schroeder and Kathleen Hummel along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to his wife, James was also preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Jeremy Fletcher, a brother Dale Winking and a sister: Arlene Stuckman.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Dear Winking family,
I am so sorry to see Jim died, I last saw him at St. Rose’ St. Patrick’s day dinner, he attended every year since 2009. as always he would say on the way out, “see you next year” want a fine guy, always a smile on his face. I hope you all are doing fine, its been many years since I saw all of you.
