James Anthony Stupavsky

James Anthony Stupavsky, age 55, of 5529 Ridgeline, Quincy, died on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 2:00 a.m. in his home. He was born on February 22, 1960 in Quincy, a son of Norman “Norm” Stupavsky & Carol (Lingenfelter) Zimmerman. He married Cheryl Lynn Fessler on September 20, 1980 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. She survives.

Jim’s family was his life. His wife, Cheryl, was his best friend and helpmate in every way. She was his wife, the mother of his children, his life and work partner. His children were his greatest accomplishment. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Cardinal’s fan.

Jim was such a strong, passionate, and independent person who exercised his values in life every day and every way concerning his family and friends. Even those he never knew before, he had helped. He was always there for the family he loved above all, as well as many others in need. Whether the need was emotional, physical, financial, Jim would step up to the plate to help. Many times without even being asked, he made it a priority to help those friends and family in need.

Jim’s work was a passion for him. His dedication for quality and perfection was foremost. He was meticulous and thorough. He always had a vision of how to make his dreams come true. Quality jobs and outcomes were foremost for him.

At the age of nine Jim started working alongside his father. During the last two years Jim was especially proud and happy to be able to have his son, Drake, working alongside him and being able to teach Drake his trade as well as all the skills and values that he had about life and work.
As owner of Jim Stupavsky Construction, he was the developer of Timberline, Drakewood & Saddlebrook Subdivisions. Jim was a member and past president of the Home Builders Association of Quincy.

In addition to his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by his father, Norm Stupavsky (Anne); children Lindsey Hinkamper and her husband Jason, Jami Stupavsky (Zach Taber) & Drake Stupavsky, all of Quincy; three grandchildren, Jaydrian Stupavsky, Camden and Rhealea Hinkamper, all of Quincy; his mother and father-in-laws, Sabina and Glenn Fessler of Fowler, IL; his siblings, Jeff (Dawn) Stupavsky and Karen Stupavsky (fiance, Dave Smith), both of Quincy; brothers-in-law, Greg (Cate) Fessler, John (Marci) Fessler, all of Fowler, IL.
Aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his mother, a brother Neil Stupavsky and a sister, Sandra Kay, in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at The Crossing, by Chris Schaefer. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to a fund being established in memory of James Stupavsky.
