James A. “Jim” Briscoe
James A. “Jim” Briscoe, 75, of Quincy, died on Thursday, December 15, 2022 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on May 19, 1947 to Leroy and Ruby (Davis) Briscoe.
Following his graduation from Quincy High School, Jim joined the United States Marine Corps. From 1966 – 1969, Jim served his country as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and was awarded the Naval Unit Citation, among other awards.
Jim was an electrician and proud member of IBEW Local 34 for 40 years. He appreciated all that the Brotherhood meant to him throughout the years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 37 and Post 5129 VFW. Jim loved fishing. Other favorite pastimes included having breakfast with his buddies at the Coach House, gambling, and watching westerns. He also enjoyed remodeling houses and making hand-crafted children’s toys.
Jim is survived by:
● Children: James “Jay” (Whitney) Briscoe of Quincy, Gabriel “Gabe” (Quinn Baker) Briscoe of Quincy, and Erica (John) Briscoe Buckley of St. Louis, MO.
● Grandchildren: Alysha Soto-Briscoe; Kayla, Gavin, Jaden, Reese, Donovan, and Evan Briscoe; Alice and Beau Buckley.
● Great-granddaughter: Aluna Soto-Briscoe.
● Siblings: Sharon (Ron) Straci of Manhattan, NY and Ken Briscoe of Phoenix, AZ.
● Several nieces and other extended family.
● Several close friends who were like family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Francis “Bud” Briscoe.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, JANUARY 21, 2023 at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home
from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Interment in Greenmount Cemetery with military honors will immediately follow.

Sorry for your loss. I remember my husband, Marvin, talking about Jimmy. They worked together on many electrical jobs.
