Jackie Ray Martin
Jackie Ray Martin, age 89, of Quincy, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 7:30 AM in Blessing Hospital. Jackie was born on February 10th, 1924 in Warsaw, IL; a son of Orville Granderson and Ethel (Richardson) Martin. Jackie enlisted in the Navy after graduation in 1942 from Wood River East Alton Community High School. Petty Officer 2nd Class Martin served as a radio Technician aboard the Destroyer Escort, the USS Donnell in the European Theatre of Operations during WWII.
Jackie retired in 1983 from Michelmann Steel Construction Company; where he was employed as a sales representative and cost accountant. Jackie also did the payroll for Tri-State, a subsidiary of Michelmann. Jackie also farmed part-time in the Durham and Maywood, MO area on his much-loved little spread of 80 acres. In October of 1999, Jackie retired from farming and moved to Quincy, Illinois. On February 17, 1945, Jackie married Miss Gloria Delores Little of Quincy, Illinois. She succumbed to cancer on June 11, 1994, eight months short of what would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. December 12, 1998, Jackie married Georgina Helen Brockschmidt of Quincy, Illinois. She survives.

SEVEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN; Cameren, Evangeline and Eden Martin of Palmyra, MO; Rebecca Brooks (Brett), Sarah Logsdon, Joshua Logsdon (Laaken) of Barry, IL; and Jessica Wittler of Jacksonville, IL
TWO GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Krista Logsdon of Barry, IL and Jackson Wittler of Jacksonville, IL
SISTERS-IN-LAW and BROTHERS-IN-LAW: Mrs. Esther Martin of Dixon , IL; Mrs. Bonnie Anderson (Howard) of Burton Township, Quincy, IL; and Mrs. Dorothea Bowman of Quincy, IL; Leland Miller of Quincy, IL; and George James Fletcher, Jr. (Lilly) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
Jackie had also endeared himself to many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Jackie was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Dale Arden Martin and Maxwell Wayne Martin; Sisters-in-law: Leona Miller, Dorothy Walker, Ruth Bradfield, Virginia Emery and Geraldine Morrall. Four brothers-in-law: Wayne Walker, Jay Bradfield, Tom Emery, and Walter Bowman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment in the Queen of Peace Cemetery in Ewing, MO at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. A parish prayer service will be held on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or Blessing Hospital Foundation for Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
