Jack A. Burton

Jack A. Burton, age 84, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on July 8, 1938 in Quincy the son of Jack and Marie (Meyer) Burton. He married Hazel Burton on September 28, 1958. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2020.

Jack served in the United States Navy. He was a Quincy Police Officer for 30 years from 1969 until retiring in 1999.

Jack and his wife Hazel were members of GWRRA for 40 years and held all the positions in the motorcycle club. He loved to travel and camp. He also greatly enjoyed going to the coffee shop at the 18 Wheeler. He also enjoyed country music.

Jack is survived by:
TWO DAUGHTERS: Valerie Farlin (Ron) of Buffalo, MN and Jackie Burton of Quincy.
DAUGHTER IN LAW: Angela Burton of Hannibal, MO
Grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to his wife, Jack was preceded in death by a son Mark Burton and siblings: Edward Burton, John Burton, Wanda Roan, Carroll Burton, Dorothy Preston, Margaret Stinett, Franklin Burton.

Cremation rites have been accorded and no formal services are planned. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Gerry and I want to extend our deepest condolences to the family. Gerry worked for many years with Jack, he as an Adams County Deputy and Jack with the Quincy Police Department. Oh, the stories they would share when they met around town! May God grant you the strength needed in the days ahead and may your many wonderful memories bring you comfort.

    My husband worked on QPD with Jack. He enjoyed his time with Jack.
    Any time I saw Jack, he was smiling . I am very sorry for your loss.

    Sue and I have known Jack ever since he and Hazel moved into the Fox Run East neighborhood. They were always good neighbors and would always stop and speak to you. Another good person is taken away from our world. Please know that you are in our prayers.

    Sorry for your loss. Knew Jack from the 18 Wheeler and he also knew my Dad, Ralph Howell for years. He will be greatly missed over at the 18 Wheeler and the gas station as well.
