Irma Sophia Winter

Irma Sophia Winter, age 102, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2424 Chestnut Street, Quincy, died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 1:35 a.m. in the Home. She was born on August 11, 1908 in Quincy, Illinois, a daughter of Frank & Josephine (Meyer) Schroeder. She married Alois C. Winter on August 13, 1935 in St. Mary Catholic Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1995.

Irma was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Before her retirement, she worked at Weems Laundry and later at Elmer Geigers Grocery Store.

Irma was a member of the Ladies of St. Francis & W.C.U. She enjoyed cooking, attending card parties, and spending time with her family & friends.

SURVIVORS INCLUDE:
TWO NIECES: Mary Vaughn and her husband Alvin of LaGrange, MO, & Norma Tavender of Jacksonville, IL;
ONE NEPHEW: James Schroeder of Arkansas;
Several Cousins, Great-Nieces, Great-Great-Nieces, Great-Nephews, & Great-Great-Nephews also survive.

Irma was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Helen Geiger, a brother, Virgil Schroeder, and a niece, Shirley McGee.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church by Rev. James Wheeler, O.F.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Home Activities Fund.
