Irene R. Clarkson

Irene R. Clarkson age 81, of Quincy died on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, in Blessing Hospital. She was born June 25, 1940, in Quincy a daughter of Bernard and Margarite (Kemner) Schulte. She married Charles “Sonny” F. Clarkson, Jr. on July 6, 1963, and together they had four sons.
Irene was retired from her work as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher. She started as a dispatch operator for fires, prior to the consolidation of the 9-1-1 system in Adams County. She had previously worked in the City Treasurers Office as an accountant with the Treasurer, Kenny Talken.
She also worked at the former Motorola in Quincy. Irene was graduate of Notre Dame High School and received her degree in Accounting from Gem City Business College.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and a devout Catholic who often attended daily mass.
Irene cherished her time with her grandchildren. She liked to crochet, play bingo and in her younger years, she liked bowling. Going to the Casino and playing the slots, was a favorite pastime.
Survivors include her sons: Charles F. Clarkson, III; Craig (Shana) Clarkson and Chad Clarkson all of Quincy; and Curtis (Frances) Clarkson of Leicester, NC; grandchildren, Ronnie Gordon, Ricky Francis, Britney Sorrentino; Austin Courtois, Timothy Clarkson, Shane Clarkson, Chad (Stephen) Metz; Curtis Clarkson, Jr.; Haley, Meghan and Abigail Clarkson; two -great grandchildren, Caden and Capri Vural and one on the way. A brother Butch Schulte, sisters, Sylvia Collins, and Cecilia Middendorf all of Quincy; and Terri Duesterhaus of Kingman, AZ, and many nieces and nephews survive.
She’s preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Margarite, Leona, Vivian, twins Helen and Ellen; Berniece and a brother and sister in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. in Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church with Rev. David Beagles, celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. Memorials may be made to a Charity of the Donor’s Choice. Messages of sympathy may be submitted online at www.dukerandhaugh.com

    I worked with Irene @ the Quincy Fire Dept where we worked as Dispatchers…she was a sweet lady ,..RIP my friend..
