Irene Laura Doellman

Irene Laura Doellman, 98, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in St. Vincent’s Home. She was born on March 14, 1921 in Quincy, the daughter of Albert Frank and Katherine Josephine (Schutte) Doellman.
Irene graduated from Quincy High School and Gem City Business College. She retired as an office manager at Quincy Pepsi Cola.

Irene was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she served as the Sacred Heart League Treasurer. Irene was a tireless volunteer.

She continued volunteering until she was 96 years old, and she helped with “The Patter” newsletter at Good Samaritan Home.

Irene loved the outdoors, gardening, working on the family farm and traveling, especially trips to visit family members.

She is survived by her siblings: George (Dodie) Doellman of Quincy and Paul Doellman of Durham, MO; nineteen nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Ruth Teijido, Alvera Archibald, Mildred Altgilbers, Florence Hollenstine, Albert Doellman, and Mary K. Paul, and a brother in infancy and two nephews.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of St. Vincent’s Nursing Home for the excellent care Irene received during her stay at the Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Internment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or St. Vincent’s Activities Fund.

    I sure will miss Irene my first cousin and dear friend. I will be at the funeral. God bless her soul and RIP Jerry.

    I am sorry to hear of Aunt Irene’s passing. I will remember her most by her smile and laughter. Some of my fondest childhood memories include the Easter egg and basket hunts the she organized for all the cousins on her farm.

    So sorry to lose our neighbor, Irene of over 40 years. We would see her at St.Vincents when visiting Ruby. Our thanks to her for all she did for our community. May she now have eternal rest in her new heavenly home. Jan “Toot” and Casey

    I’m very sorry to hear this. I remember her, and I spoke with her a couple years ago. I wish I had done so far more ofter. She will be missed.
