Iola Mae Worley
Iola Mae Worley of rural Liberty, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024. She was the daughter of Carl E. Kill and Vera M. (Cochran) Kill. Iola was born on April 5, 1929, in Richfield Township, IL. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1946. Upon graduation Iola moved to Quincy and worked for Moorman Manufacturing Company as a secretary. Her coworker and friend, Martha, introduced Iola to her uncle, Dale L. Worley. Iola would marry Dale on May 6, 1950 at the Richfield Methodist Church.
The couple moved to Decatur, IL, where Iola worked for a mortgage company and then Ameren until her retirement. Upon retirement, Dale and Iola moved back to the family farm in rural Liberty. Iola believed every farm should have animals and enjoyed raising chickens, guineas, peacocks, bees, cats, and dogs. She also enjoyed growing trees, flowers, and shrubs. Iola was the founder and president of the LHID Investment Club. She encouraged everyone she met to invest and to not fear the stock market.
Iola was of the Christian faith. Because of her faith and the teaching of her parents, she believed in helping those in need whether they be family, friends, or complete strangers.
Iola is survived by two sisters, Donna Jenkins of Jacksonville, FL and Carolyn (Gaylord) Oitker of Plainville and many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dale; three sisters, Glenna Brockschmidt, Pauline Parrish and Doris Murfin; one brother, Harold Kill; two nieces Jerri Brockschmidt, Donna Frese; one nephew Mark Jenkins and one great nephew Austin Frese.
Private services were held, followed by entombment at Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Quincy Humane Society. Service arrangements in care of Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
My Aunt Iola was a wonderful person. When growing up I spent a lot of time with Iola & Dale.
I would go to Decatur during the summer and stay with them until summer break was over.
When we went to Quincy to visit, Iola would always make sure we went to Sprouts Restaurant.
Iola will be deeply missed.
God Bless. She was so nice to my brother Brad Marshall & my boys. I had some long interesting visits with her. Sweet lady.♡
I have always thought Iola was a a beautiful woman inside and out. I know she was very loved and respected by her niece, Debbie. Our prayers are with all of the family as you pass through this time.
