Imogene I. Barry

Imogene I. Barry age 89, of Liberty, IL died on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Adams Pointe Assisted Living with her family at her side.

Born June 2, 1932 in Liberty, IL Imogene was the daughter of Joseph and Irene (Schmidt) Ormond. She married Kenneth E. Barry, on July 21, 1956 in St. Brigid Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on August 16, 2018.

Mrs. Barry worked at The Farmers Bank of Liberty after graduating from Liberty High School. After starting a family, she worked as a homemaker. Later she worked at Linnemeyer’s Hardware Supply, Hesco Petroleum, and cleaned homes and businesses.
Mrs. Barry was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church.

Imogene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family meant everything to her. She was a wonderful baker and was known for her delicious pies. She loved flowers and always created beautiful yards.

Survivors include:
EIGHT CHILDREN: Connie Johnson (Bobbie) of Fowler, IL; Karen Peter (Gregory) of Quincy, IL; Benita Boone of Pittsfield, IL; Lisa Ortbals (Michael) of Columbia, MO; Kevin Barry (Sherry) of Liberty, IL; Kim Barry (Ben Dickerson) of Hannibal, MO; Daron Barry (Kelli) of Liberty, IL; and Tanya Wolf (Kurt) of Liberty, IL.
NINETEEN GRANDCHILDREN: Chad Johnson (Katie); Brian Johnson (Kristie); Todd Peter (Jeni); Cody Peter (Ginny); Adam Peter (Emily); Jeremy Boone (Ashley); Jessica Genenbacher (Ryan); Justin Boone (Jenna); Jordan Boone (Katie); Katie Mills (Aaron); Claire Stansberry (Pete); Nathan Ortbals; Zachary Barry; Emerson Brink; Halie Daniel; Bradley Daniel; Connor Wolf; Carson Wolf; and Cannen Wolf.
SEVENTEEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN with an additional great-grandchild expected in the fall.
ONE BROTHER: Richard Ormond (Marilyn); numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Lucille Schoenekase, Bernard, Roger, and Eleanor Ormond.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty officiated by Rev. Scott Snider. Interment in St. Brigid Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church and Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Brigid Catholic Church or to the Adams County Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

    My sincere sympathies to the Ormond & Barry families. My dad, Wilfred Kaltenbach, was a 1st cousin to Imogene, and as a child, I vividly remember her warmth & friendliness. Prayers & peace.

    You have are sympathy and we enjoyed both Kenny and Imogene over the years. They will be missed. We will not be at the visitation because of the covid-19 increase.
