Ida Frances Fleer
Ida Frances Fleer, age 68, of 1211 Eastate Dr., died on Monday, June 12, 2017 in St. John Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born on February 23, 1949 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Ernest & Martha (Peter) Klauser. Ida was a 1967 graduate of Unity High School. She married Steven Fleer in St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon, IL on December 6, 1969. He survives.
Ida was a Clinical Therapist, LPN and CADC (Clinical Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor). Ida was currently working at the Turning Point Recovery Center, Hannibal, MO.
Ida was of the Catholic Faith.
Ida had a “green thumb” and took great pride in her flowers and plants. She loved animals, as her and Steve had many throughout the years. They had horses, rabbits, birds, cats, and most importantly, her beloved dogs. Her dogs were #1 and she enjoyed raising them. Holidays, especially Christmas, were always one for the record books. Ida went “over the top,” making it special for every single person. She was passionate about her career and helping others. More often than not people sought her out for help and advice. As most mothers do, she put her family first, oftentimes above herself. She doted on her grandchildren and her relationship with her siblings only grew stronger with each passing year.
In addition to her husband, Ida is also survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Brian Fleer of Quincy; Jason Fleer and his wife Danielle of Mendon, IL and Stacy Fleer of St. Louis, MO.
A NIECE: Bridget Ormond and her husband Lance of Quincy
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: Morgan Fleer, Jacob Fleer and Emma Fleer; Camdyn and Carter Ormond.
SIBLINGS: Richard Klauser and his wife Reita; Carlene Spohr and her husband Benjamin; Cletus Klauser; Virgil Klauser and his wife Diana; and Loren Klauser and his wife Sherry.
Numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Rita Klauser.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 9:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 AM in St. Edwards Catholic Church in Mendon. Interment in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy, Il. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation, in care of Behavioral Medicine or Cancer Research.
