Herbert Steinkamp

Herbert J. Steinkamp, age 91, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in the Sunset Home. He was born on August 13, 1933 in Burton, IL the son of Frank and Bertha (Weidemann) Steinkamp. He married Mary J. Ihnen on November 30, 1957. She survives.

Herb served in the Unted States Navy. He then worked for Huck Fixtures for over 40 years. After retirement from Hucks, he also worked at the Quincy Public Schools. Mr. Steinkamp was a long time and active member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He also volunteered at the Senior Center and delivered Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed gardening and enjoyed being part of the Hardees Coffee Club.

FIVE CHILDREN: Patricia A. Runquist of Quincy, Cindy Womack (Mark) of Farmington, MO; Nancy Meehan (Randy) of Morton, IL; Mark Steinkamp (Lisa) of Hampstead, NC and Timothy Steinkamp (Angie) of Burlington, Iowa.
GRANDCHILDREN: Adam Runquist (Amanda), Andy Runquist (Kim) and Ashley Mattingly (Zach); TJ Hester (Emma); Aimee O’Neal (Bryan) and Ryan Meehan (Taylor); Tricia Vannatter (Jordan), Michael Steinkamp (Hilary), Matthew Steinkamp, and Brian Steinkamp; Kaitlyn Martinez (Carlos), Logan Steinkamp and Madison Steinkamp.
A Sister: Kathleen McCaughey and a sister-in-law: Barbara Steinkamp.
Numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Mr. Steinkamp was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Lawrence Steinkamp along with his wife Anita, Dorothy Dietrich along with her husband Joe, Virgil Steinkamp along with his wife Peggy, Robert Steinkamp, Mary Ann Steinkamp and Eugene Steinkamp.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Quincy Notre Dame or to the St. Peter Building Fund. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Toot loved all the guys from Hucks. He enjoyed his years there too. Herb was a good guy …our sympathy to you and your family. HUGS.
