Herbert L. “Sonny” Castle, age 77, of 966 Maple Ridge Dr. in Liberty, died on Wednesday June 1, 2016 at 7:30 a.m. in his home with his wife by his side. He was born on February 3, 1939 in Quincy, the son of Herbert L. Castle, Sr. and Arretta (Kellogg) Castle. He was married to Glenette Martin Burkett on September 9, 1988. She survives. Mr. Castle was a self-employed truck driver. He was very proud of his service to our country in the US Army and of his membership in the Masonic Herman Lodge #39. Sonny was an avid fisherman and loved telling tales of the road. While residing in Kansas, he raised and trained mules. His mules were in races from Kansas to Arizona.

SIX CHILDREN: Tony Castle, David Castle, Rick Castle and his wife Kris, Pamela Morgan, Beatrice Filsinger and her husband Robert, Forrest Castle and his wife Janis.
FIVE STEP-CHILDREN: Michael Burkett and his wife Sheila; Gregory Burkett and his wife Tina; David Burkett and his wife Sarah, Glenden Burkett and Shawn Burkett
12 GRANDCHILDREN, 6 STEP-GRANDCHILDREN, 3 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN, and 2 STEP-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN
A BROTHER: Daniel Carbaugh and his wife Cheryl
Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 9:30 AM in Quincy Memorial Park. There is no visitation but friends are invited to the graveside services. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
