Helen Lucille Hougland, age 95, of Urbana, IL, formerly of Quincy died on Friday, July 2, 2021 in Urbana. She was born on February 12, 1926 in Sutter, IL the daughter of Peter J. and Anna P. (Mund) Kunz. She married Harold M. Hougland on July 1, 1950. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1999.

Helen worked in a Quincy shoe factory during WWII, and later as a nurse’s aide at the Illinois Veteran Home, retiring in 1988.

Helen was an excellent housewife, always keeping a neat and clean house and yard. She was a long time member of Salem Church, having joined on June 1, 1947.

She is survived by her children: Harold M. (Mary Evelyn) Hougland, Jr. of Plano, TX and Russell S. Hougland of Urbana, IL; two step-grandchildren, Brennan (Patricia) Givens and Russley Givens; and three step-great-grandchildren, Austin, Hayden, and Saxon; nephews, Tim (Mary Nell) Rosenboom of MI and Merlin (Lucinda) Kunz of TX and a niece Joanne (Gary) Dedert of Fowler, IL.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Harold (Elberta) Kunz and sisters, Mae Crouch (Paul) and Dorothy (Charles) Rosenboom, one nephew, Leo (Becky) Rosenboom and one niece, Nancy (Thomas) Knotts.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Home or Salem Church.
