Helen L. Miller

Helen L. Miller, age 86, of St. Vincent’s Home, formerly of 2506 Oak, died on October 7, 2015 at 4:30 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. She was born on February 6, 1929 in Quincy, the daughter of Roy and Alberta (Druffle) Fischer. She married Robert J. Miller on January 27, 1951. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1998.

Helen graduated from Quincy Notre Dame. She was a fan of Quincy Notre Dame sports and of the Chicago Cubs. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter.

Survivors include her children, Bruce Miller and his wife Mary; Debbie Gerding and her husband Chuck all of Quincy; Pamela Poe of Albia, IA and Robert Miller and his wife Rhonda of Quincy.
One brother, Lee Fischer and his wife Fran of Quincy;

19 grandchildren, Mathew Miller; Brian Miller and his wife Abby and John Miller and his wife Kim, all of Quincy; Krisha Ley and her husband Eric; Kasey Gerding; Kari Weisenberger and her husband James and Kody Gerding and his wife Aleshia all of Quincy; Kourtney Dye and her husband Matt of Columbia, MO; Kaileen Martin and her husband Jared of Temecula, CA; Joshua Sohn, Zach Sohn and Jake Sohn and his wife Lana of Albia, IA; Slater Poe; Kayla Tiry-Ortiz and her husband Nate of Altoona, IA; Logan Poe and his wife Elyse; and Dakotah Poe all of Des Moines, IA; Erin, Katie and Brady Miller of Quincy;

21 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Florence Terwelp and Mary Thompson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter by Monsignor Leo Enlow. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. Memorials are suggested to the Robert J.     I was so sorry to hear of your Moms passing. Helen was such a nice lady. No matter where I saw her, she always had time to talk. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Seems like a lifetime ago when we were all neighbors.
