Helen J. Jehling

Helen J. Jehling, age 92, Quincy, died on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in Good Samaritan Home. She was born on July 25, 1928 in Renault, IL the daughter of Roy and Rose (Limestall) Fults. Helen married the love of her life, Wes Jehling on March 29, 1947 in Waterloo, IL. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1985.

Helen was a loyal, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was the proudest grandma—-each one of the grandkids was a constant source of delight her entire life.

She enjoyed reading, book clubs, visiting the library and Bible studies. Helen looked forward to her volunteer work for the Ladies of Charity Thrift Store when it was on 12th and Chestnut St. Her time there was the highlight of the week. Most of all, she loved “working the front” as the cashier, connecting with customers and their personal stories. There was also “break time” to share a cup of coffee, a sweet treat and especially conversation with her fellow friends at the store. Helen was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Friends of the Library and the Ladies of Charity.

She left us with many words of wisdom to guide our lives. “There for the grace of God go I” was one of the best.

Rest in peace Mom. May your memory be a blessing.
