Helen Fay Fessler
Helen Fay Fessler, age 75, of Quincy, died on Friday, January 25, 2019 in the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on January 10, 1944 in Quincy the daughter of Lewis and Helen (Taylor) McClelland. She married Richard Fessler on December 29, 1962. He survives. Helen was a graduate of Unity High School. She worked in the UPC department at Wal-Mart for many years until her retirement in 2008. She was of the Catholic Faith.
Helen loved to shop. She also enjoyed traveling. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with family, especially her grandkids.
In addition to her husband, Helen is also survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Barry Fessler and his wife Teresa of Quincy; Scott Fessler and his wife Jill of Springfield, IL and Susan Kelso and her husband Bill also of Springfield.
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Jessica and Ashley Fessler; Max Fessler; Carter, Olivia and Jack Kelso.
THREE STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: Braxton, Logan and Gannon Lanier
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Lynn McClelland and a sister: Sue Von Burg.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 11:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. A Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 until 4:00 PM at the Quincy Boat Club. A private burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Cancer Research or to the Quincy Humane Society. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Susan (and the rest of the Fessler clan) I’m so,so sorry to hear of your loss. Helen was the best combination of class, beauty, and humor I’ve ever seen. I’m sure your hearts are breaking. Know that loving thoughts and prayers are surrounding you through it all. Remember all the laughter and it will surely help.

I had known Helen for more than 40 years and she was one of those people that made you feel better about yourself just by being around her. It’s been an honor to know the whole Fessler family and I send my very deep condolences.
