Helen Christina Baker

Helen Christina Baker, age 99, of the Good Samaritan Home, Quincy, died on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 6:15 a.m. in the home. She was born on July 18, 1915 in Adams County, IL, a daughter of Carl & Mary (Zengel) Baker.

She attended St. Peter’s Grade School. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and former long-time member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Prayer and attending church were an intrical part of her life.

Helen worked at International Shoe Company and later at Tangerine Bowl.

She belonged to the Legion of Mary and was an active volunteer for both St. Boniface card parties and Blessing at 14th Street.

Helen loved dancing at the Eagles Alps Club with her friends. She enjoyed needlework. She will be remembered by many friends as always giving of herself by doing things for others.

She is survived by a sister, Pauline Richmiller. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Walter Baker and Don Baker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or Good Samaritan Home.
