Heidi A. Laws, age 64, of Canton, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Blessing Hospital. She was born on June 26, 1960, in Carthage, IL, a daughter of Virgil and Helen (Hendricks) Redenius. Heidi married Donald Ray “Donnie” Laws in 1981. They went on to have three children. Although they divorced after 7 years, the pair remained lifelong best friends. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2022.

Heidi graduated from Central High School in 1978. She went on to graduate from Quincy University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. While raising her children, Heidi enjoyed being on the go. Many weekends were spent traveling to sporting events, church activities, or Boy/Girl scout activities. Heidi had a passion for cats and took pride in calling herself the crazy cat lady. She was involved with Cuddle Cat Rescue in Hannibal, MO. During her free time, Heidi enjoyed walking, reading, crafting, and catching up with her friends.

She is survived by two children: Brian Laws (April) of Canton, MO and Shannon Stupavsky (Drew) of Quincy. Five grandchildren: Hopie Laws, Miley Stephens, Willow Stephens, Samuel Stupavsky, and Margaret Stupavsky. Two sisters: Kathy Lane (Steve) of Hannibal MO and Vicky Cleeton (Don) of Ewing, MO. Numerous nieces, nephews, multiple foster grandchildren, and other relatives also survive.

In addition to Donnie, Heidi was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Evan Scott Laws.

Family and close friends are invited to a gathering to celebrate Heidi’s life on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the LaGrange, MO Youth Center.
Memorials may be made to Cuddle Cat Rescue. Arrangements for cremation are with Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
