Hazel Grady Meise

Hazel Grady Meise age 101, of the North Adams Home, formerly of Quincy, died on Saturday, May 3, 2008 in the Home. A native of Columbus Twp., IL Hazel was born July 20, 1906, a daughter of William and Birdie (Trout) Coleman. She spent her early childhood in Camp Point, IL, attending Maplewood High School , Class of 1924. For a time, she was employed as a reporter for the Camp Point Journal.

Hazel married Irvin Grady on February 7, 1928 in Quincy. Mr. Grady died in 1947. She married Alois Meise in 1963. He died in 1979.

Mrs. Meise was a member of the Women of the Moose, Quincy Lodge for over 50 years. She was active in sports and Quincy bowling leagues. Her church affiliation was Methodist.

Survivors include her son, James R. Grady and his wife Lou Ann of Quincy; three grandchildren, Jerilyn Niewohner and her husband Bill of Quincy; Colleen Coleman and her husband Brad of Cary, N.C. and Michael Grady and his wife Lina of Davenport, IA. She was also blessed with eleven great grandchildren and a special niece, Joan Tieken of Quincy and nephew Bill Heinecke of Abilene,KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Irvin and Alois, and her eight brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery with Rev. Georhe Tomko conducting the services, There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the graveside services. Memorials are suggested to the Blessing Hospital Foundation for HOSPICE.     Jim & LouAnn: Please accept my the loss of your mom. You are fortunate having her in your life for such a long time. I am sure she is resting in peace after her time in the home. I remember her as a beautiful woman and a pretty person. Brona
