Harry Dyel
Harry Clinton Dyel of Quincy, formerly of Mt. Vernon passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the age of 89. Born in Mt. Vernon on March 02, 1928, he was the son of Otto, and Inez (Severns) Dyel. He married the one and only love of his life, Virginia Langdon on September 19, 1954 in Sorento, Il. They shared 44 loving years of marriage together.
Harry was a loving father to Mitch Dyel (Diane), the late Joni Stark, Ginger Davis, and Tim Dyel; proud grandparent of 10 grandchildren, Nicole Baldwin (Darren), Tanner Dyel (Sara), Ryan Stark (Kimber), the late Alex Davis, Brittney Davis, Mary Davis, the late Caleb Davis, Ben Davis, Dylan Dyel, Avery Dyel; and 3 precious great grandchildren, Charlotte Baldwin, Crosby Baldwin, and Clara Baldwin; devoted brother to his siblings, Bob Dyel, the late Max Dyel, the late Carl Dyel, and the late Mildred Fitts.
Harry proudly served his country in the United States Army. Harry always dreamed of being a police officer but after not making the weight requirement became an honest insurance investigator for 36 years. Most significantly Harry was a Lamb of God. He attended Lighthouse Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, teacher, treasurer, and usher. It was his passion to witness to friends and family. He was a skilled carpenter and Scrabble player. Harry never missed dessert after a meal.
Celebration of life services in memory of Harry will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2017 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Duker and Haugh Funeral Home with Bettie Kaufmann officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery. Friends and family are respectfully invited for visiting hours at the Duker & Haugh funeral home on Wednesday, January 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. till time of service. In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorials in his memory to go to the donor’s choice.
