Harold R. Stroot

Harold R. Stroot, age 88, of 1305 South 36th, Quincy, died on Sunday, March 24, 2013 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on August 17, 1924 in Quincy, a son of Clem & Matilda (Meisman) Stroot. He married Romaine Lindsey on April 22, 1950 in St. Peter Catholic Church. She survives.

Mr. Stroot attended St. Boniface grade school and graduated from Quincy Academy in 1942. Harold was an Army Veteran of WWII where he served in an Anti-aircraft Artillary Unit. He participated in the Normandy invasion and served throughout the European Theatre. After the war he entered the heating and air conditioning business where he later became the owner of Stroot Heating and Air Conditioning.

Harold was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks and was past-President of the Quincy Exchange Club. He was a family man who enjoyed real estate and construction and often kept busy with projects around the house.

In addition to his wife, Harold is also survived by:
SIX CHILDREN: Jeff Stroot and his wife Molly; John Stroot and his wife Tanna; Dan Stroot and his wife Lori and Ellen Kathmann and her husband Steve all of Quincy; Sarah Brinkmeyer and her husband Steve of Bartlett, Tennessee and Myra Troutwine and her husband Brent of Fairway Kansas.
SEVENTEEN GRANDCHILDREN: Samuel Stroot, Allison Stroot, Garrett Stroot, Hannah Stroot, David Stroot, Emily Stroot, Charles Stroot, Jordan Stroot and his wife Jill, Lindsey Griffard and her husband Dan, Tyler Stroot and his wife Jayme, Christine Kathmann, Rachel Botson and her husband John, Paul Kathmann and his wife Sarah, Matthew Brinkmeyer and his wife Allison, Neil Brinkmeyer, Gunnar Troutwine and Lars Troutwine.
6 great-grandchildren
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jerome Stroot and a sister Verona Stroot.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:30 in Blessed Sacarament Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice and Palliative Care or to Blessed Sacrament Church.

    sorry jeff for your lost sadness flies away with time when love is lost do not bend your head in sadness instead keep your head up high and gaze into the heaven for there where your broken heart has been sent to heal
