H. Oland Kraft

H. Oland Kraft age 78, of the Illinois Veteran’s Home formerly of 2622 Brook Dr. Quincy died on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 7:15 a.m. in the home. Oland was born September 30, 1930 in Middletown, MO the son of Herman & Lorea (Cobb) Kraft. He married Mary Beth Brower on October 11, 1958 in Quincy’s St. Peter Catholic Church and she survives. Oland worked as a technician at the former Motorola, he then was a supervisor at Quintron and Glenayre, retiring in 1992.

Oland served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War.

Oland was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Nancy Kraft of Quincy; Linda Mittrucker and her husband Jim of Cape Girardeau, MO and Barbara Carleton and husband Steve of St. Louis, MO;
a sister, Mary Katherine Raber of Springfield, MO;
Seven grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Mittrucker, Laura Klipfel and husband Travis all of Cape Girardeau, MO; Daniel, Elizabeth, Ben and Sam Carleton all of St. Louis, MO;
two great grandchildren, Taylor and T.J. Klipfel both Cape Girardeau, MO;
nieces, nephews and his grand puppy Cisco who visited him daily at the Veteran’s Home also survive.

Oland was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 9:30 a.m.
in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m.
in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post #37. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials have been suggested to St. Francis Catholic Church, the Illinois Veteran’s Home Activities Fund or to the Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE.

    I will offer a Memorial Mass for Orland this week. I am glad you were free enough to come to the reunion Mass and dinner. Yes, you were so free to let Veteran’s Home take good care of your Husband to the end. Thanks for you friendship and help. Fr.Joe
