Greta M. Nichols

Greta M. Nichols, age 100, of Golden Good Shepherd Home, formerly of North 27th St., Quincy, died on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in Golden Good Shepherd Home. Greta was born June 9, 1917 in Augusta, IL, daughter of Fred Robinson Green and Grace Elfin Stucker. She married Albert Justin Nichols on December 31, 1941 in Palmyra, MO.

Greta worked as a seamstress and in food service and retail sales. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing and an occasional nip of bourbon. She especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren.

Greta is survived by one son: James F. (Karen) Nichols of Camp Point, IL; two daughters: Gail (Ken) Nichols Roman of CA and Carol Sue Nichols Blaesing of Quincy; nine grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and one sister.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery. Friends are invited to the graveside services at 1:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Golden Good Shepherd Home. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

    We are sorry for your loss. We met Greta in 1998 when we moved in 2 doors over. We instantly loved her. She had the most amazing garden and beautiful yard. She was a pleasure to have as a neighbor. Your family is in our prayers.
