Gladys Dunker
Gladys M. Dunker age 98, of Quincy died on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 7:15 a.m. in the Sunset Haven.
Gladys was born October 6, 1919 in Fowler, IL, a daughter of Arthur and Edna (Disselhorst) Walbring.
She married Leroy J. Dunker on August 24, 1940 in Quincy, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1999.
She loved to work, and had worked at several Quincy businesses, including the Shoe Factory, Electric Wheel and she was retired from Moorman Manufacturing where she retired as cafeteria manager.
After retirement, Gladys participated in the Companionship Program at Sunset Home, and she worked in the kitchen at the Harrison HyVee.
Gladys loved and enjoyed her time with family and friends. She was always ready to socialize and entertain and may have been the original “hostess-with-the-mostest”.
She liked going to card parties, and “to the boat”. She and Leroy truly loved each other; they liked traveling together and loved the winters they spent in Florida.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherry (Don) Norman; Pamela (James) Eaton all of Quincy; Grandchildren, Nicole (Ron) Denler of Quincy; James Goudschaal of Springfield, Jason Eaton of Mountain View, CA and
Emily Eaton of Quincy. Two great grandchildren, Waylon Cook, currently serving in the U.S. Army and Jacob Cook of Quincy. Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bill; two sisters, Dorothy and Peggy.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 12 Noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE or to the Alzheimer’s Association Adams County Chapter.
Pam, Sherry, and family, we are so sorry for you loss of your mom. She was such a wonderful person and a great friend for many years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
