    Nearly thirty five years,
    My life, it’s been blessed;
    With a friend, tried and true,
    We now lay to rest.

    For a young strapping boy,
    I met freshman year;
    And bonded so quickly,
    He knew not, of fear.

    His drive and ambition,
    Unable to hide;
    Respect and commitment,
    Showed true “Raider Pride”.

    ‘Twas many an evening,
    We spoke over beers;
    Discussing desires,
    For upcoming years.

    With eyes for the “prizes”,
    We strive for in life;
    His goals quite specific,
    His job, and his wife.

    Career, as we’d have it,
    Our own QPD;
    As third generation,
    Was what it must be.

    The spouse, not so simple,
    As many, we knew;
    The one love of his life,
    Just Susie would do.

    The road, often winding,
    But never unclear;
    The battles were many,
    Defeat, he’d not hear.

    God and community,
    His family and friends;
    His heart without boundries,
    He served, without ends.

    Our loss can’t be measured,
    His void can’t be filled;
    And though grief, it may fade,
    His mark never will.

    Now holster your weapon,
    Lie down all your fears;
    The battle has ended,
    It’s time to change gears.

    A classic Camaro,
    The sun on your face;
    Or maybe a Harley,
    Whatever your pace.

    Your duties behind you,
    We’ll ask for no more;
    Our friend, and our loved one’s,
    Gone Code-44.

    Go in peace with the Lord; you will be missed my friend………..

    I had the pleasure of working and knowing Gil with the DARE program and through the car club. He was one great guy and was the face of the Quincy Police Department. He also was a great person to all, a true proffessional. He was a Battler and that is a tribute to his family, that he fought so hard to stay with you all.
    he will be remembered and always in conversations when people talk about great guys, great police officers.. Our thoughts and prayers are with you God Bless you all

    Gilbert Feld Family

    Was sorry to hear about Gill. Ken and I are in California and will not be able to personally give you our deepest sympathy. We enjoyed talking with the two of you at the Coach House.
    We only hope knowing we are thinking of you
    helps in some small way. We have read the article in the heral whig using the computer.
    Although we were not aware of all your husbands accomplishments it was obvious you were caring people.

    Again we are thinking of you during this time.
    Sincerely
    Ken and Rose Mary Nesbit.

    Dear Gil, How sorry I am to learn of the passing of your son, Gil Jr. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to loose a child but know that God is with you both and he will be well cared for.
    My gosh, how long has it been that we have seen one another. Mother passed away in 89 and my beloved Sister Girl Shirl passed away in Apr. of 07. I lost my beloved husband of almost 55 years in 03. I hope you are well and please know that you and all of your family are in my Prayers. I am still living in N.C. since 58.
    Love and Prayers to all of you, Your old friend, Phil (Hudson) Yoe

    I still can’t believe that he’s gone. I was very humbled to see the amazing number of people who took time to say goodbye and pay their respects to Gil on Sunday. It was quite evident that he had touched many a life during his time on this earth. I was very honored to have been able to speak a few words at the service (as hard as they came)in trying to say goodbye to my good friend; but even more honored to have been his friend at all. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The world was, and will be, a better place because of his presence among us. Gone, but never forgotten. Rest in peace my friend…..
