Gilbert D. Shepherd
Gilbert D. Shepherd, age 81, of 1614 Sycamore, died on May 25, 2017 in Sunset home. He was born on December 8, 1935 in Bowling Green, MO, the son of Willard and Katherin (Florence) Shepherd. Gilbert married Shirley Roberts Payne on October 19, 1988 in Quincy. She survives.
Gilbert was a supervisor for John Deere. He retired from John Deere and began cooking Bar-B-Que for Hy-Vee, Shottenkirk Toyota and the Germanfest.
He loved fishing and preaching the Good News.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Terry Shepherd of Bowling Green, MO; four daughters, Verna Laboy (Gil), of Columbia, Mo, Whitney Jensen (Chris), of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Ashley Shepherd, of Galesburg, IL and Indea Shepherd of Quincy; four step-children, Rhonda Hogan, Aaron Payne, Thomas Payne and Michael Payne; four brothers, Milford Shepherd, of Columbia, MO, Will (Mary) Shepherd, of Columbia, MO, Mark (Sharon) Shepherd, of Columbia, MO, and Greg Shepherd, of Fulton, MO; two sisters, Pamala (Larry) Johnson, of California and Diane Moffett of Columbia, GA; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; a aunt, Ruth Bordnes of Bowling Green, MO and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Delain Shepherd and two brothers, Melvin and Gordon Shepherd.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness
