Gideon “Junior” T. Lair

Gideon “Junior” T. Lair, age 75, of Quincy, died on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 9:42 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. He was born December 18, 1937 in Lewis County, MO, a son of Gideon Theoplus and Willa Frances (Clow) Lair. He was united in marriage with Margaret Ann Bourne on May 25, 1957 by Rev. Luther H. Lewis in LaGrange Missouri, and she survives.

Junior had worked for Tri-State Wholesale Florist, also known as Stuppy from 1969 until retiring due to ill health in 1991. He had served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1956-1958.

He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church of Taylor, MO.

Junior had also been a tutor through the JWCC Literacy Program.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Pamela Ann Newell and her husband Larry of Noble, OK; Jeffrey G. Lair of Quincy and Gail June Grawe and her husband Joe of Liberty;

Five grandchildren, Jennifer Jones and her husband Bryan; Scott Morton; Tyler Grawe and his fiance Jenny Anderson; Jonathan Grawe and Abigail Grawe;
Four great-grandchildren, Austin and Denton Morton; Dylan and Emma Jones.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lucille Gosney and his brother Leroy Lair.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Durham Cemetery, Durham, MO by the Rev. Steve Martin. There is no visitation, but family and friends are invited to the graveside services. Military honors will be conducted graveside by the American Legion Post #174.
