Gerald W. “Jay” Collins, Jr.

Gerald W. “Jay” Collins, Jr., age 45, of Peoria, IL, formerly of Quincy, IL died on Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Peoria. He was born on October 16, 1969 in Melbourne, FL the son of Gerald W. “Jerry” & Wilma (Davis) Collins. Jay was a graduate of Quincy High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Supply Database Programmer, serving in Operation Desert Storm. He later was self-employed as an IT Computer Consultant. In his youth, Jay was a ham-radio operator and throughout his life was a self-taught computer whiz.

Jay is survived by:
HIS CHILDREN: Hannah M. Collins, Spencer Jeffrey Collins and Andrew Michael Collins.
HIS FATHER: Gerald W. “Jerry” Collins, Sr. and his wife, Gloria Shriver Collins of Quincy.
THREE SISTERS: Susan Wilson and her husband David of Farmer City, IL; Stephanie Boyer and her fiance’ Gregory Ellery of Quincy and Sheryl Hart and her husband Rodney of Quincy.
NIECES AND NEPHEWS: Lane Wilson, Emily Wilson, Evan Boyer, Kristan Boyer and Brant Boyer.
Aunts, uncles and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Wilma Collins and a niece Schuyler Collins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10:30 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to an educational fund for his children.
