Gerald L. “Jerry” (Henderson) Leffers

Gerald L. “Jerry” (Henderson) Leffers age 63, of 2930 South 8th Street Quincy, died on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 in the Emergency Room of Blessing Hospital. He was born January 13, 1952 in Quincy, a son of Cal and Emma “Mae” (Leffers) Martin. He married Patty Irvin on June 28, 1996, and she survives.

Jerry worked as a crane operator for Alter Metal Recycling and for Merkels Scrap and Steel, from where he retired.

He had served as road commissioner for Honey Creek Township. Jerry’s hobbies included woodworking and painting. He liked to go mushroom hunting with his wife Patty and entertaining family and friends.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his children: Robert Cole, Ronna Cole, Gretchen Cole, Michelle Attebery, Deanna Leffers and Kim Leffers.
Brothers and Sisters: Charlotte Tooke and her husband David of Quincy; Barb Epley and her husband Ron of Payson; Jim Henderson and his wife Carol of Hannibal, MO; Mary Ann Garrett and her husband Terry of Maywood, MO.
His mother-in-law, Rea Stock of Texas and many nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law Debbie Henderson and a brother in infancy, David Dennis Hall.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Saturday beginning at 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to a Charity of the Donor’s Choice or to the family.
