Gerald F. “Jerry” Anderson
QUINCY, Ill. — Gerald “Jerry” F. Anderson, 77, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of Ursa, passed away in his sleep after a short illness Thursday, (June 27, 2013) at Blessing Hospital.
Jerry was born Feb. 9, 1936, in a farmhouse in Brooklyn, Ill., a son of Herschel and Edith Anderson. Jerry married the late Judy Bozarth on Dec. 26, 1953.
Jerry was a retired truck driver from DOT Foods and Ursa Farmers Co-Op.
He was in the Army from 1952-53 and served in the Korean War.
He loved spending time with his family and visiting with his friends at the Ursa coffee shop. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially to many square dance events worldwide.
Survivors include a daughter, Kristina “Tina” Hartman and husband, Mike; a son, Karl Anderson and wife, Amy; four granddaughters, Jessica Marie Cate and her husband George, Kaitlin Anderson and her fiancé Brandon Shakespeare, Kelsey Anderson and her fiancé Gavin Harper, and Megan Anderson; a great-grandson, Nolan Anderson Martin, and great-granddaughters Jovi Marie and Rory Judith Cate; a sister Pauline Oliver and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Judy, his parents, his sisters Imogene Stewart and Marie Phillips and a daughter, Karen.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church in Mendon with the Pastor Dennis Gartung and Pastor Jack Perdue officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.
VISITATION: Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Saturday in the First Congregational Church, Mendon.
MEMORIALS: The American Cancer Society.

I am praying for you as you grieve the loss of Jerry. I know the feeling of losing parents, and know no words make the hurt better. May the God who gave His only Son to die that we might live comfort you (John 3:16). I will miss him greatly.
