Gerald D. Sill
Gerald D. Sill, age 82, of 3533 Wysteria LN, Quincy, formerly of Lima, died on Sunday, June 1, 2014 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on June 30, 1931 in Loraine, IL the son of Edward and Georgia (Dittmer) Sill. He married Donna Vinson on June 17, 1951. She survives. Mr. Sill was the owner and operator of Vinson and Sill, Inc.. He also owned Sill Motors in Keokuk, Iowa. Mr. Sill had served in the Army Reserve. He was a member of the Crossing Church in Lima and was formerly a long-time member of the Federated Church of Lima.
Gerald and Donna were avid square dancers for many years and developed many lifelong friendships that would last throughout the years. Gerald had a passion for the American automobile. He loved “original” antique vehicles and turned his love of the automobile into a business venture when he bought Sill Motors in Keokuk. He truly enjoyed that business and sold and serviced many customers in the tri-state area. Gerald and Donna enjoyed numerous travels throughout the years and had traveled all 50 states as well as enjoying numerous cruises. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren – and loved watching them play various sports.

TWO CHILDREN: Mark Sill and his wife Diane of Quincy and Jodell Speckhart and her husband Mark of Taylor.
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Danielle Fleer and her husband Jason; Vinson Sill and his wife Amber; Isaac Speckhart and his wife Becky, Ben Speckhart, Natalie Zimmerman and her husband Luke, and Anna Martin and her husband Seth.
GRANDSON IN LAW: Timothy Wilson
TWELVE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Jacob Fleer, Emma Fleer, Annabelle Sill, Adeline Sill, and Oliver Sill; Hunter Wilson, Evan Wilson, and Annette Wilson; Abel Zimmerman, Cameron Martin, Eva Martin and Eden Martin.
FOUR BROTHERS: Paul Sill; Harold Sill and his wife Georgia, Jack Sill and his wife Carolyn; Doug Sill and his wife Donna
TWO SISTERS: Eula Rae Hoffman and her husband Richard and Beulah Muegge and her husband Ray.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter: Miranda Wilson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Crossing Church, Lima. Interment in New Providence Cemetery in Ursa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. At the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
