George L. “Butch” Goehl

George L. “Butch” Goehl, age 70, of Quincy, died on Thursday, November 24, 2022 in Blessing Hospital.

He was born on April 10, 1952 in Quincy, a son of George E. And Mary A. (Dyer) Goehl. He married Mary M. Williams Hampsmire on April 10, 1980. Butch was of the Catholic faith and as a child attended St. Anthony’s. After moving to Marblehead, he attended Payson Seymour Grade and High School.

Butch worked at Adams Service station and Chanen’s for many years. In his younger years, he drove a stock car, and had also driven a big rig for a few years. He retired living his lifelong dream of owning and operating Goehl’s Custom Repair and Welding in Marblehead, IL.

Butch loved spending time with his family. His family and grandkids were his life. During his spare time he loved watching old Western shows and was an avid John Wayne fan.

He is survived by his ex-wife: Mary Hampsmire (Bryan) of Payson
DAUGHTER: Briana Helms (Adam) of Quincy
GRANDCHILDREN: Cole Helms (Jade), Joshua Helms, Paige Helms, Peyton Helms, Kelsey Helms, Bryton Helms, Noah Helms and Elijah Helms.
SISTER: Mary Beth Goehl of St. Louis, MO.
A Nephew Aaron Cawthon (Sarah).
A family member who ‘Butch’ considered like a daughter, Sonja (Tommy) Whitt along with other relatives survive.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at 11:00. Memorials may be made to the family. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
