George Edward “Ed” Holt

George Edward “Ed” Holt, age 62, of 523 Gardner Expressway, Quincy died on Saturday, November 26, 2011 in his home. He was born April 2, 1949 in Quincy, a son of George Holt and Sarah Ann (Johnston) Tucker. He married Mary Marie Hills on December 29, 1967 in Hannibal, MO and she survives.

He was a welder, he worked at Titan Wheel for 12 years, and at OTR Wheel Engineering for seven years retiring from there in 2002. Ed was a minister who was active in his church, Life Tabernacle, and he had ministered for over 20 years. He was a graduate of Quincy High School and Quincy Technical School with a degree in Welding.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was patriotic and had a deep respect for the American Flag and what it represents. Ed loved riding his motorcycles, he enjoyed shooting and collecting guns. He was a family man, whose kids, grandkids and beloved dog Poogie were his pride and joy.

In addition to his wife, survivors also include his children, a son Scott Holt and wife Vickie of Quincy; daughters, Angela Spurgeon and her husband Rick of Canton, MO and Terri Risley and her husband Phil of Palmyra, MO.

Grandchildren, Brittany Crenshaw of Dallas, TX, Joshua Crenshaw of Tuscaloosa, AL; Jordan, Heather and Eric Risley of Palmyra, MO; Jeffrey Pollock of Quincy, Bobby Ledbetter of Palmyra, Ryan Gillday III, Andrew and Alac Gilday all of Quincy, Savannah Holt of Minooka, IL; Paul Blumke of Indiana, Jonathon Blumke of Des Moines, IA, Stephen (Jennifer) Blumke, Rachel and Corey Combs all of Canton, MO and Jodie Spurgeon of Columbia, MO.
Great-Grandchildren, Connor Blumke, Alionna Combs and L.J. Pollock;

Many special brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Ann Tucker and her husband Dale and George Holt and his wife Bonnie and a brother Melvin Holt, in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, by the Rev. Paul Kinney with military honors following the services at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for a Charity of their choice.

    My Heart Pours Out for George Edward Holts Family Marie & Mary & Friends. He was my favorite Childhood Friend. I loved him more my own brother. All I ever knew him was just as ole “EDDY.” Just now found out about him going home with OUR SWEET LORD. PLEASE SWEET JESUS TAKE HIM BY THE HAND AND LEAD HIM HOME-AMEN.
