George Earl Sunderland

George Earl Sunderland, age 82, of St. Vincent Home, formerly of 1507 Wilkes Ave, Quincy, died Sunday, November 1, 2009 in the Home. He was born on August 22, 1927 in Adams County, the son of George and Maude (Pickens) Sunderland. He married Mary Kay Buehner Holeman on November 30, 1979 in Quincy, IL. She survives. Mr. Sunderland worked in the Office and Factory of Gardner Denver from 1952 until his retirement in 1982.

George enjoyed camping, fishing and going to auctions. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club of Gardner Denver.

In addition to his wife he is also survived by:
ONE SON: Terry D. Sunderland and his wife Pam of Quincy;
TWO STEP-DAUGHTERS: Janis Dorber and her husband Earl of Lewisville, TX and Diane Pieper of Quincy, IL
ONE STEP-SON: Greg Holeman of Quincy
ONE GRANDDAUGHTER: Stacey Sunderland of Quincy
STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: Holly McNaught and her husband Clay of Plano, TX
And Paige Jackson of Quincy
TWO STEP-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Twins Ava McNaught and Brennan McNaught.
ONE SISTER: Norma Chapman of Delary, Florida

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Roy Sunderland.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There is no visitation but private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Advocacy Network for Children. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
