Gary Lee Davis

Gary Lee Davis, age 66, of Taylor, MO, died on Friday, September 25, 2020 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on November 4, 1953 in Quincy, the son of George and Virginia (Fleer) Davis. He married Gari Baker on November 24, 1979 in Carlsbad, California. She survives.

Gary proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Illinois Veterans Home after working there for twelve years and then worked for the Quincy Herald Whig on a motor route for three years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and barbequing, especially during the 4th of July holiday.

In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his daughter, Amber Davis of Kansas City, MO and eight nephews, Dale Davis, Paul (Becky) Davis, II, Charles Davis, George Davis, Robert Wittner, Pete Smith, Terry Smith, Jerry Smith; two nieces, Lisa Bourne and Mary Smith.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Paul Davis and two sisters, Sandra Smith and Jeannie Wittner; three nephews, Mike Wittner, Larry Smith and Ronnie Smith.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in Sunset Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post # 37 and the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honors Detail. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Veteran’s organization of the Donor’s Choice.
