Frederick H. Lee, age 82, of 3012 Lincoln Hill SE, Quincy, died on Saturday, November 1, 2014 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on August 20, 1932 in Quincy, IL, a son of Harold & Laura Louise (Scheid) Lee. He married Linda Gaines on June 3, 1978 in Boston, MA. She preceded him in death.

Along with his wife, Fred owned and operated Gem City Coin & Supply in Quincy. Fred was a member of the Quincy Coin Club and the American Numismatic Association. Fred was well known and respected for his wealth of knowledge about numismatics and his honest dealing.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

He adored his beloved cat, Harry, and enjoyed playing cards and throwing and painting his own pottery.

He is survived by his children, Eric Lee and his fiancee’ Kerry Mayfield of Quincy, Gregory L. (wife Connie) Lee and Valerie L. (husband Terry) Shirkey both of Jacksonville, IL; grandchildren:
Corbin Lee of Quincy, Autumn Shirkey, Jeremy and Joshua Hobbs, Heather (Randy) Birdsell, Krystal (Corey) Bradley all of Jacksonville, Ashley (Joshua) Hulsey of Missouri, Michelle (Dayton) Cripe of Chatham and 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Fred was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial visitation for both Fred and his wife Linda will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the American Numismatic Association or St. James Lutheran Church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
