Frederick “Fritz” Taute
Frederick “Fritz” Taute, age 87, of Quincy, died on Monday, January 31, 2011 in North Adams Home in Mendon. He was born on February 10, 1923 in Houston Township, Adams County, Illinois, a son of Rudolph H. and Effie M. (Mueller) Taute. He married Virginia A. Conley on April 4, 1946 in Golden, Illinois. She survives.
Mr. Taute was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was a participant on D- Day in Normandy, the Battle of Okinawa and served in the European and Pacific Theaters. Mr. Taute worked for Pepsi-Cola for thirty-five years starting out as a fleet mechanic and retiring in 1988 as Production Supervisor.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was also an active member of the Eagles where he enjoyed pitching horseshoes and he cooked for numerous Club events for over twenty years.
He also assisted with the weekly Bingo events at the Eagles until recently. Mr. Taute was a member of the V.F.W. He was a man known for his smile and willingness to help anyone in need. He had a gift for fixing anything mechanical, electrical, or otherwise.
In addition to his wife, Virginia, survivors include:
THREE CHILDREN: Fred Taute, Jr. and his wife, Diane of Warwick, RI, Ruth Felker and her husband Dan of Quincy, and Chris Taute and his wife Cathy of Ottumwa, IA;
ONE SISTER: Doreetha Elliott of Liberty, IL;
ONE BROTHER: Arthur Taute of Quincy;
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Elizabeth Pella and her husband John of Warwick, RI, Brian Taute and his wife Debbie of Warwick, RI, and Michelle Taute and her husband Tom Schario of Cincinnati, OH. FOUR GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Katelyn, Christian, and Jacob Pella, and Benjamin Taute.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Taute was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Rudolph Hank Taute, LeRoy Taute, Marvin Taute, and a sister, Elnora Taute.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh
Funeral Home with a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass conducted by Monsignor Michael Kuse
at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with
military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #37.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a
parish prayer service at 5:45 p.m.

I knew Fritz from the Eagles and he was a really nice gentleman. I’m sorry he has passed, I know his friends and family miss him.
