Fred Matticks

Fred Matticks, age 94, of the Sunset Home, formerly of 441 Poinsettia, died on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in the Home.

He was born on June 3, 1924 in Edina, MO the son of Joseph & Mary (Bruegenhemke) Matticks. He married Evelyn Payton on June 4, 1947 in St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy.
She preceded him in death on November 3, 2017.

Fred was a member of the Church of St. Peter.

Fred is survived by:
FIVE CHILDREN: Diana (Art) Winston of Orlando, FL; Linda (Stephen) Gregory of Avon, IL; Dan (Stephanie) Matticks of San Diego, CA; Karen (Richard) Wagner of Quincy, IL; and Dr. Rod (Maria) Matticks of Springfield, IL.
TEN GRANDCHILDREN: Arthur Ray (Haley) Winston; Derek Winston; Ken (Claire) Gregory; Andrew (Julie) Gregory; Brandon Matticks; Rick (Beth) Wagner II; Adam (Melissa) Wagner; Jeremy Matticks; Trevor Matticks; Brianna (Matt) Dondanville.
9 Great-Grandchildren, SISTERS: Doris Scott, Jackie (Dan) Gray and Wanda Marczak along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to his wife, Fred was also preceded in death by parents, a brother Joe Matticks and sisters: Mary Sohn, Ruth Smith, Kate Veach, Edith McAfee, Maxine Coulson, and Sally Claus.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10:00 AM in St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment at Quincy Memorial Park with military rites conducted at the cemetery. There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the memorial mass. Memorials may be made to Sunset Home or to Blessing Foundation for Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Deepest Sympathy to the Matticks family. I worked with Fred many years at Thompson Trucking. He was always a fun loving guy. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
