Frank Edward Blickhan, age 87, of Quincy, died on Saturday, October 14, 2023 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on January 23, 1936 in Quincy, the son of Russell Merkel and Catherine (Simons) Blickhan. He first married Patricia Foster on April 17, 1966. She preceded him in death on October 21, 1992. He later married Joyce Peters Brueggeman on December 30, 1995. She survives.

Frank attended Quincy College and later the David Ranken Technical School in St. Louis, MO. He served in the United States Army, stationed with the Corps of Engineers at Ft. Belvoir, VA. Frank was a service technician for Sears for over 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Frank enjoyed fishing, classic westerns and war movies. He also greatly loved dogs, especially his beloved Rottweiler ‘Jake’, and fixing things for family and friends. Frank also enjoyed raising chickens and driving the many fast cars he owned throughout his life.

In addition to his wife, Frank is also survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Bryan Blickhan (Lorie) of Libertyville, IL; Gary L. Blickhan of Quincy, IL; and Allison Brooks (Scott) of Springfield, IL.
GRANDCHILDREN: Russell William Blickhan (Sherry Yuan) and Christopher Patrick Blickhan.
STEP-CHILDREN: John Brueggeman (Angi); Steve Brueggeman (Tammy) and Carol Hosch (Nick).
STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: Shea and Emily Brueggeman and Drake Hosch.
BROTHERS-IN-LAW: James Bennett (Joanne) and Steven Zarycki.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to his first wife, Frank was also preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Patricia Bennett and Nancy Zarycki.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
