Frances Helen Meyer

Frances Helen Meyer, age 81, of Sunset Home, formerly of 3801 North 84th Street Fowler, IL, died on Sunday, September 23, 2012 in the home. She was born May 1, 1931 in Melrose Twp., IL, a daughter of Tim & Leona (Mettemeyer) Mast. She married Robert George Meyer on June 2, 1951 in St. Anthony Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1995.

Frances considered her greatest job was to be a homemaker for her family.

Before having her children, she worked Illinois Bank. She later began a 30 year career with Lakeview Bar & Grill as a prep-cook.

Frances went to St. Anthony Catholic Grade School and was a 1948 graduate of Notre Dame High School.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and belonged to St. Joseph Altar Society. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Home Extension and of the St. Anthony Branch of Western Catholic Union. Frances had served as an election judge and she was an avid bowler on the Leo Zanger Team for over 30 years.

Frances loved gardening and planting flowers and sharing both with family & friends. She and her husband Bob enjoyed life together on the farm and took great joy in bottle feeding the baby calves.

As a devout woman of prayer, Frances truly lived her life in service to others, and was a living example of faith until the very end. Frances is survived by her nine children, Denny Meyer of Quincy, Dale Meyer and his wife Linda of Mendon, Jane Meyer of Quincy, Billy Meyer and his wife Kim of Mendon, Cheryl Dannehold and her husband Craig, Janelle Wegs and her husband Dan, Ted Meyer and his wife Michelle all of Quincy; Patrick Meyer and his wife Allyson of Brimfield, IL, George Meyer and his wife Holly, of Quincy; Grandchildren, Shawn (Sara) Meyer, Brad (Erica) Huntley, Shannon (Curtis) Shaffer, Zachary and Jacob Meyer, Amanda (Dan) McNeff, Brandon Meyer & fiancee Katie Fairbanks, Gregory (Irene) Meyer, Brandon Powers, Brice Powers, Britney Powers, Justin Dannehold & his fiancee Terra Wellman, Mackenzie Dannehold, Austin Dannehold, Nathan, Jason and Allyson Wegs, Madeline Meyer, Tate, Ty and EL Meyer, Natalie, Sumner, Sienna and Nolan Meyer, Kaitlyn Latour, Damin, Emma & Logan Meyer; 8 Great Grandchildren, Maddison Powers, William & Wesley McNeff, Bo & Cleo Shaffer, Jayce Huntley and Scarlett & Sophia Meyer; Sisters, Mary Anne Grawe, Antoinette “Dolly” Genenbacher and Elizabeth “Betty” (Ralph) Venvertloh; Sisters-In-Law, Evelyn Mast & Margie Mast. Numerous nieces, nephews & other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Robert, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert & Joseph Mast and a sister, Virginia “Ginny” Huber.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse and Rev. Jeff Stone. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home with a parish prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Frances Meyer Memorial Fund or Masses may be given in her name. www.dukerandhaugh.com
