Floyd Lish, age 87, beloved son, husband, father and grandfather passed away December 6th, 2022 in the home of his daughter after a short illness. He was born on June 30, 1935 to Joseph and Ada Bentley Lish in Kellerville, IL.
He attended school in the Mendon and Quincy school district, served proudly in the United State Marine Corp at Camp Pendleton, CA and was honorably discharged.

After his service he returned home to his job at the Quincy Herald Whig where he worked for nearly 30 years. He became a master carpenter, passionately restoring homes and furniture in the Quincy area. He went on to help restore the Quincy Museum, building displays and maintaining the building until his retirement at age 70. He and his wife Sue restored several homes in Quincy and took great pride in their work. Their current home is listed on the Historic Registry and had been part of the Historic Tours and the Garden Tours in Quincy. Floyd also served on the preservation committee for the city of Quincy. He also loved the outdoors and hunted until age 85. He shot archery in indoor and outdoor leagues for many years, and was a member of the Wenois Field Archers starting in the 1950’s.

Floyd married Jane V. Hartzell and had four children. In 1984 he married L. Sue Broemmer, she preceded his death on October 8th, 2019.
He is survived by three daughters: Debra (William) Greving of Camp Point, IL, Dotty (Curtis) Moore of Clayton, IL, Dawne (Steve) Kennedy of Jacksonville, NC. One son Dusty Lish of Hannibal, MO. One stepdaughter Ronda Broemmer of Decatur, IL.
Grandchildren Jacob (Valerie) Greving of Quincy, IL, Joshua (Traci) Moore of Clayton, IL, Laura (Lee) Bowles of Mississippi, Chelsie (Travis) Camper of North Carolina, Kimberly Kennedy of North Carolina. One step-granddaughter Justice Broemmer of Quincy, IL.
Great Grandchildren: Ella, Nathaniel, Nicholas Greving of Quincy, Keenan Fafoglia of Springfield, IL and Wyette Moore of Clayton. Three step-great grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sisters, Lou (Ronald) Willing of Quincy, Geri Hunziker of Kahoka, MO, one brother Rod (Sandy) Lish of Quincy, IL.
Two sisters-in-law Debbie Lish of Quincy, IL and Jean Lish of Barry, IL.
There are also many nieces, nephews and cousins surviving.

Floyd was preceded in death by: his parents, granddaughter Amber Greving Fafoglia, two brothers Charles (Chuck)Lish of Quincy, IL and Jack of Barry, IL, a brother-in-law Leroy Hunziker of Kahoka, MO and stepson, Randy Broemmer.

A celebration of Life will be held in the spring as per Floyd’s request. He noted he wanted warm weather, green grass and the flowers to be blooming. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
