Flossie C. Lindsey
Flossie C. Lindsey, age 97, of Sunset Home, died on June 25, 2011 in the Home. Flossie was born April 20, 1914 in Shelbina, Missouri, a daughter of Glen and Norma (Sanders) Rainey. She married Floyd D. Lindsey on December 24, 1932 in Edina, MO. He preceded her in death in January, 1982.
Flossie worked for Davis Cleaver in Quincy for 20 years, retiring in 1978.
Flossie enjoyed embroidering, gardening and also her chickens.
Survivors include her children, one son, Darrell R. Lindsey and his wife Barb of Hannibal, MO and one daughter, Dorothy Brassfield and companion John Noble of Quincy; one brother, Glen Rainey and his wife Pat of Columbia, MO; two sisters, Lucille Oshner of Nixa, MO and Margaret McEwen of Leonard, MO; ten grandchildren, Steve (Kringle) Lindsey, Tim (Carol) Lindsey, Doug Lindsey, Terry (Sandy) Brassfield, Glen (Karrie) Brassfield, Rick Brassfield, all of Quincy, Floyd Lindsey of Hannibal, Matt Lindsey of Griggsville, IL, Robert (Ronell) Messer and Michael (Karla) Messer of Clifton Hill, MO; survivors also include several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Lorene Lindsey of LaBelle, MO and Darlene and her husband, Ollie, Dare of Plainville, IL. Several nieces and nephews survive. Flossie is also survived by her Sunset Home roommate, Norma Morcum.
In addition to her husband and parents, Flossie was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Sidney Rainey; two grandsons, Floyd Douglas Brassfield and Ricky Messer; one granddaughter, Peggy Donath Lindsey; one son-in-law, Albert Brassfield; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Chester McEwen, Lillard Lindsey, Roy and Ruby Gibson, Marion and Gladys Pugh, Weldon and Nettie Lindsey.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Steffensville Missouri Cemetery in Steffensville, Missouri. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Sunset Home or Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE.
