Florence S. Gramke
Florence S. Gramke, age 88, of the North Adams Home Assisted Living, formerly of Quincy, died on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on April 30, 1923 in rural Adams County, the daughter of Henry & Bertha (Mast) Dieker. She married Lawrence F. Gramke on October 30, 1946 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1984. Mrs. Gramke worked for Halbach-Schroeder in Quincy. She had also worked as a seamstress. Mrs. Gramke was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a present member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Florence was an avid euchre player. She was a Quincy University ‘Waterbug’. Florence was a member of the K of C Auxiliary and the Western Catholic Union. She was a member of several prayer groups and also participated in the Cursillo movement. Florence also served as a mentor for the Quincy Public Schools, most recently at Ellington School. Above all, however, Florences life was centered around her family and many dear friends.
She is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Carol ‘Jeannie’ Hildebrand and her husband Philip of Mendon, IL; Janice ‘Jan’ Poulter and her husband Brad of Liberty; Craig Gramke and his wife Patty of St. Louis, MO; and Kent Gramke and his companion Sherry Lilley of Summerville, SC.
TWO DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW: Mary Gramke of Quincy and Elaine Gramke of St. Louis.
THIRTEEN GRANDCHILDREN: Rob Gramke and his wife Barb, Stephen Gramke and his wife Laura; Laura Gramke, Philip Hildebrand, Jr. and his wife Lori, Brenda Fleer and her husband Christopher, Amanda Kasparie and her husband Jason, Matt Poulter and his wife Julia; Sarah Miller and her husband Adam; Andy Poulter, Michael Gramke; David Gramke and his fiance Lexxie Lawson, Rachel Gramke and Erica Gramke.
SEVENTEEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Kyle Gramke, Conner Gramke, Sophie Gramke, Kate Gramke, Claire Gramke, Emma Hildebrand, Sidney Hildebrand, Philip J. ‘PJ’ Hildebrand III, Kennady Fleer and Nolan Fleer, Hannah Kasparie, Morgan Kasparie, Caleb Kasparie and Carter Kasparie, Nathan Poulter, Nicholas Poulter and Jacob Miller.
STEP-SISTER: Rita Giesing of Quincy.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, Florence was also preceded in death by: three children: Pamela ‘Pam’ Gramke, Lawrence ‘Larry’ Gramke, Donald ‘Don’ Gramke; one grandson Thomas ‘Tom’ Gramke, brothers: Ralph Dieker, Albert ‘Butch’ Dieker, and Paul ‘Buddy’ Dieker, and sisters: Agnes Wiewel, Leona Keck, Esther Willer, Marie Willer, Ruth Jansen, and Lucille ‘Lukie’ Bange, and a step-brother Andrew Terwelp.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:30 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church by Father Don Knuffman. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4-8 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the North Adams Home Assisted Living or to the North Adams Home Activities Fund or to the Charity of the Donors Choice.

Knew your mother thru bible classes, a wonderful, pleasant lady always with a ready smile. My condolences to Gramke family, she’s in Heaven and peace with Our Lord.
