Florence R. “Becky” Dieker
Florence R. “Becky” Dieker, age 99, of Hamilton, Illinois, formerly of Quincy, died on Monday, March 28, 2016 in the Montebello Care Center in Hamilton, IL. She was born on September 15, 1916 in Griggsville, IL the daughter of the late Elmer J. & Ruth Irene (Hill) Birch. She married Carl J. Dieker on June 15, 1940 in the Church of the Annunciation in St. Louis, MO. Carl preceded her in death on March 8, 1978.
Becky moved to Quincy from Griggsville and was employed as a secretary at Central Fiber Products and also Monroe Chemical. Becky loved quilting, fishing, gardening, playing cards and traveling. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Altar Society for many years and is presently a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Survivors include four children: Carlene (Jon) Lemon of Keokuk; Marilyn (Tom) Hughes of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania; Janice (Robert M. ‘Pete’) Pohlman of Quincy and Carl G. “Jerry” (Lynn) Dieker of Wichita, KS.
FIFTEEN GRANDCHILDREN: Jeffrey (Terri) Martin; Robert “Bob” (Jody) Martin; Janine (Russell)Riney; Becky (Wade) Johnson; Daniel Hughes; Greg ( Deb ) Hughes; Carrie Hughes; Threse Hughes; Brian (Helen) Pohlman; Victoria (Walter) Cronin; Ret. Lt. Col. Douglas (Ret. Lt. Col. Kelli) Pohlman, USAF; Craig (Melissa) Dieker; Nathan ( Stephanie ) Schweizer; Robbie Schweizer; & Brieann Dieker.
32 GREAT- GRANDCHILDREN AND 1 GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILD along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives survive.
In addition to her husband, Becky was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother Charles Birch along with his wife Nina.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home from 4:00 until 6:30 PM with a Rosary service at 6:00 PM. Memorials may be given to St. Rose Catholic Church or to the K of C TV Mass for Shut-Ins or Masses may be given in her memory. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
We were so blessed to have Becky and Carl for next door neighbors while we grew up.

Dear Dieker family, How many years I have known your family, and many times with Jerry at the old family home on 11th street. a fine family from St. Rose and I wish Becky could have seen the work we did to reopen the church now.
